Eros Synastry: The Nodes and Major Angles of Your Chart (Conjunctions and Squares)
Almost a year and a half ago, someone messaged me asking about the impact of Eros on the descendant and descendant as well as the angles, so this post was inspired by their question, which they sent around 9/5/2020 – 3:43 PM. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, I thought this would be good for those curious minds out there that are newly paired up and want to see the impact of Eros in their synastry chart. Of course, not all of these will apply since the natal chart needs to be checked as well as the impact of each sign. But this is a general post focusing on the Ascendant and Descendant.
Eros Conjunct the Ascendant: Eros represents everything the Ascendant person desires. This can make them infatuated and lose themselves in the other person. Eros here needs to find a way to rediscover their own identity while appreciating the excellent qualities of the Ascendant person. The Ascendant person could find the admiration either intoxicating or overwhelming at times. But if the Ascendant or Eros person’s self-esteem had suffered before meeting their partner, this could prove to be beneficial for either or both of them since they will see a positive side to themselves.
Eros Conjunct the Descendant: With Eros on the Descendant, this is a binding aspect that can make the Ascendant person consider Eros their ideal mate for the long term. Eros here will make the relationship feel a lot more sweet, giving it a Neptunian and Venusian vibe. Similar to the Ascendant conjunction, Eros will have to look within themselves and find their power. Although this relationship can be positive for both parties, a dose of practicality will help them more. Learn to see the good and bad in your partner and don’t sugarcoat it.
Eros Conjunct the IC: With Eros conjunct the IC, Eros feels like home to the Ascendant person. This connection can make living with each other feel a lot more pleasant, especially if there are difficult aspects in the respective charts. Eros can bring comfort and tranquility to the Ascendant and vice versa. Although this won’t heal any challenges within the relationship (it depends on the synastry chart), at times, Eros can bring joy to the Ascendant person and bring a sense of romance to their environment.
Eros Conjunct the Midheaven: This synastry aspect will be quite powerful for both parties since it will impact the way that the world views them. From the outsider’s perspective, Eros and the Ascendant person will seem as if they are living the romantic experience only witnessed in films. The love and devotion both parties have for one another will be noticed by others. Although this transit can bring a lot of attention from others, it can also work against them since all eyes will be on them.
Eros Conjunct the North & South Nodes: It could feel fated to have this as karmic connections come to play. Eros represents everything the Ascendant person is seeking in a partner and vice versa. Although the conjunction might scare some people, this can be a good thing since it might make both partners continue to love and desire each other for the long term (all other aspects allowing). Here both parties continuously learn about one another and the relationship will grow if they both respect, love, and continue to appreciate their partner.
Eros Square the Ascendant: This dynamic can feel on and off for both parties, like most hard aspects. Still, this is a connection that promotes growth for both people. Eros admires the Ascendant person and views them as inspirational at times. But when Eros feels let down, that adulation they once gave the Ascendant can shift. Eros might still hold a diplomatic approach but there can be instances where they might question their partner.
Eros Square the North & South Nodes: Eros wants to be at home with the Ascendant person, since this is a karmic contact, bringing up past lives. There might be some conflict when it comes to understanding their partner emotionally but both parties deeply care about each other with this connection.
